UN Extends Mandate for EU-Led Peacekeeping Mission in Bosnia for Another Year

Date:

The United Nations Security Council has unanimously extended the mandate of the European Union-led stabilization force in Bosnia and Herzegovina for another 12 months. The renewed authorization allows EUFOR ALTHEA and the NATO presence in the country to continue their operations under the terms of the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement, which ended the Bosnian War.

The resolution reaffirms the authority of both EUFOR ALTHEA and NATO to take all necessary measures to maintain peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It also authorizes UN member states to support these missions when requested, ensuring the continued enforcement of the peace framework and the protection of international forces operating in the region.
