Russia cannot be defeated in its war with Ukraine for one simple reason: its nuclear weapons, according to Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov.
Speaking this week, Alipov was unequivocal. “You can’t… take over us in this conflict simply because of our nuclear weapons,” he stated, grounding his claim in Russia’s military power.
He pointed directly to his country’s established military doctrine. This doctrine, he reminded his audience, includes the possibility of using nuclear weapons if Russia faces an “existential threat.”
This reality, in Alipov’s view, makes European hopes for a Ukrainian victory “childish” and “unprofessional.” He accused European leaders of “craziness” for believing Russia could be defeated.
He contrasted this with Donald Trump, who Alipov alleges “understands that this war is lost by Ukraine and the West,” a stark assessment as the conflict nears the four-year mark despite ongoing Western military aid to Kyiv.
