Scooby-Doo! Live-Action Series Set for Early 2026 Filming

Netflix is moving forward with its much-anticipated live-action Scooby-Doo! series, which will explore the early days of the iconic mystery-solving gang. The show is a collaboration between Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions, and Midnight Radio. It will be led by showrunners Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, who will bring their creative vision to the classic characters.

The story is set during the final summer at camp for the teenage Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, and Velma. A lonely Great Dane puppy becomes the only witness to a mysterious supernatural murder, pulling the group into a chilling investigation. The official logline promises a modern reimagining that blends mystery, friendship, and supernatural suspense.

The series is slated to have eight hour-long episodes. Its current working title is Scooby-Doo! The Live-Action Series, as listed by the Writers Guild of America. While a fall 2025 filming start was initially planned, production is now aiming for an early 2026 start date.

This new adaptation is designed to be a fresh take on the beloved franchise, appealing to both longtime fans and a new generation of viewers. The focus on a supernatural mystery and the gang’s origins is a new direction for the story. Fans are eagerly anticipating casting news, especially for the young Great Dane that will portray Scooby.
