Saudi Arabia, Serbia Boost Collaboration in Trade, Tech, and Energy Sectors

Saudi Arabia and Serbia are strengthening their ties through enhanced economic and diplomatic collaboration, with a particular focus on sectors such as energy, technology, agriculture, food industries, and trade. Recent discussions between the two nations highlighted potential joint ventures in energy projects, advancements in information and communications technology, and agricultural partnerships. These talks also delved into strategies for increasing the presence of Serbian companies in the Saudi market and boosting Saudi investments in Serbia.

In a significant diplomatic move, Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed Elkhereiji and Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Duric met in Belgrade to sign an agreement that removes visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and official passports. This development is expected to facilitate smoother official exchanges between the two countries, fostering closer diplomatic ties.

The trade relationship between Saudi Arabia and Serbia has seen remarkable growth, with bilateral trade reaching $121 million in 2025, almost nine times the figure recorded in 2012. This upward trend continued into the first half of 2026, with trade volumes climbing to $130.4 million, marking a 152% increase compared to the same period the previous year.

Looking ahead, both nations are gearing up for EXPO 2027 in Belgrade and EXPO 2030 in Riyadh, events anticipated to open up further avenues for investment, business partnerships, and expertise exchange. Saudi Arabia has committed to participating in EXPO 2027, where it plans to highlight its economic progress, innovative capabilities, cultural richness, and investment potential.

Additionally, both countries are exploring partnerships in science and technology. Serbia is set to participate in the Saudi Food exhibition in Jeddah, bringing more than 50 companies to showcase their offerings, further solidifying the growing economic relationship between the two countries.
