Elon Musk Pledges SpaceX Shares to Children in Trump Accounts Program

Date:

US President Donald Trump has expressed gratitude towards SpaceX CEO Elon Musk for his pledge to donate SpaceX shares to American children participating in the Trump Accounts program. This gesture is seen as a significant move to help children secure a financial stake in the country’s future economy.

Elon Musk announced on social media his intention to give one SpaceX share to every child in America next year, marking it as the initial step in a series of planned contributions. This pledge comes after SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell and her husband previously committed to donating shares to over two million children, mainly in Central Texas.

The Trump Accounts program, launched on July 4, is designed to assist families in building long-term savings for their children. Under this initiative, the government contributes $1,000 to eligible accounts of children born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028. Parents and other contributors can add up to $5,000 annually, and beneficiaries will have access to the funds when they turn 18.

Trump’s acknowledgment of Musk’s generosity also indicates an improvement in their relationship, which had been strained due to a public disagreement over the administration’s tax and spending legislation. The dispute had been vocalized on social media, but recent developments suggest a move towards reconciliation between the two.
