Bulgaria Issues Weather Alerts for Heavy Rain in Six Districts on October 13

Date:

Bulgaria has issued orange-level weather alerts for six districts as heavy rain is forecast to hit the country on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. The districts under the orange warning, indicating potentially intense rainfall, include Kurdzhali, Haskovo, Yambol, Bourgas, Varna, and Shoumen. Additionally, most other regions in Bulgaria are under yellow-level alerts for potentially hazardous weather conditions.

The national weather forecast predicts cloudy and rainy conditions, particularly in central and eastern areas where the rain could be intense. While the southwest is expected to see a decrease in precipitation, moderate northerly winds are anticipated countrywide. In eastern regions, these winds may temporarily strengthen. Temperatures are expected to peak between 10°C and 15°C, with Sofia reaching around 11°C.

Mountainous regions in Bulgaria are bracing for cloudy, windy, and rainy weather, with snowfall predicted at elevations above approximately 1,700 meters. Significant precipitation is expected across the central Balkan Mountains, the Rhodope Mountains, Strandzha, and Sakar, with temperatures forecasted to be around 6°C at 1,200 meters and approximately 1°C at 2,000 meters.

The Black Sea coast will not be spared, as cloudy skies, rain, and strong winds are expected, with heavy precipitation possible in the afternoon. Coastal temperatures are set to range from 15°C to 17°C, while sea temperatures are projected at 20°C to 21°C. A yellow-level warning has been issued for strong winds and waves along the coast, and residents and travelers are advised to stay updated with weather information and take necessary precautions in affected areas.

Currently, Sofia City, Pernik, Kyustendil, and Blagoevgrad are the only districts without any weather warnings. As Bulgaria braces for this adverse weather, authorities and residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and prepared for potential disruptions caused by the heavy rain and winds.
