Wrexham Triumphs Over Millwall 3-0 for First Championship Victory

Date:

Wrexham secured their first Championship win of the season with an impressive 3-0 victory over Millwall, providing a significant boost to their aspirations for Premier League promotion. Having started the season with draws against Cardiff and Watford and a home defeat to Birmingham, Wrexham made a strong comeback in south London.

The breakthrough came courtesy of an own goal by Zak Sturge, who inadvertently turned Issa Kaboré’s deflected cross into the Millwall net, giving Wrexham the lead in the first half. Kieffer Moore extended the advantage after halftime with a powerful 20-yard strike, and Jacques Ekomié sealed the win with a close-range finish, marking a dominant performance for the visitors.

Millwall, on the other hand, suffered another blow as they have now conceded eight goals in their last two matches, following their initial two clean-sheet victories. Their troubles were further exacerbated by injuries to key players, striker Josh Coburn and midfielder Casper De Norre.

In other matches, QPR maintained their strong start to the season with a 2-1 win over Cardiff at Loftus Road, thanks to two goals from Rumarn Burrell. Perry Ng managed to score for Cardiff, but it wasn’t enough to prevent QPR from moving to 10 points from four matches.

Meanwhile, Burnley played to a 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough at Turf Moor. Aidan Morris gave Middlesbrough an early lead, but Ugo Raghouber equalized for Burnley shortly after the break. Charlton also remained unbeaten following a 1-1 draw with West Brom. Callum Styles opened the scoring for West Brom before Tyreece Campbell netted the equalizer in the second half.
