Almeria and Malaga Face Extended Orange Rain Alert Today

Date:

Authorities in Spain’s Andalucia region have elevated the rain warning to an orange alert for parts of the Almeria and Malaga provinces as severe weather persists. This heightened warning took effect at 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, replacing the previous yellow-level alert in the Valle del Almanzora and Los Velez areas of Almeria and the Antequera district of Malaga.

The change in alert status signals a significant level of danger, with heavy rainfall anticipated to continue throughout Thursday night. Residents in the affected areas are advised to exercise caution and adhere to local emergency and weather advisories for their safety.

The most intense rainfall conditions remain concentrated in the Levante area of Almeria, where higher-level weather alerts were already in place prior to the recent upgrade. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to provide updates and further guidance as needed.
